Context Objects displayed as plain text on a WorkItem form

Things you need to know...

  • Plain Text Context Object Values can only be used on Customised Forms

  • In order for a Context Object Value to be displayed as plain text on a form, it must be populated in a preceding WorkItem

  • Attachment Context Object types only display the file name as plain text on the form and not the file as an attachment

  • The same Context Object can be used multiple times as plain text on forms

  • You cannot preview this functionality, it can only be tested when cut live

Steps to follow

  1. In Designer - Setup & place Context Object where it is first mandatory to user
  2. In Designer - Insert Text Value in subsequent form(s)
  3. At run time – Fill in the Context Object where it is first visible to the user
  4. At run time - Text Values for selected Context Objects display on form(s)

Step 1: Set up Context Object

  • In designer insert the Context Object on a form where it will be filled in e.g. Start form

Step 2: Insert text values in subsequent forms 

  • In Form Designer on a subsequent WorkItem, select ‘Text Value’ in the toolbar
    • Select a Context Object from the list
  • Click OK
  • Click Save

Text Value for the selected Context Object displays on the form

Step 3: At run time – Enter CO first visible WorkItem

  • Fill in the Context Objects on the start form
    • Or where the context object is first visible to the user (and mandatory) in this example

Step 4: At run time – Text Values for CO display on form

  • In the subsequent WorkItem user can see the Context Objects displayed as plain text.
    • Note: This will only work if the Context Object is filled in a preceding WorkItem
